Jon Way

JON JAC WAY tragically passed away while skiing in Heavenly Valley on March 25, 1992. A marker was placed to permanently memorialize the site where he succumbed after hitting a tree. He was born April 1, 1956 in Iowa and was a member of the Clark High School Class of 1974.

A special thanks to classmate and best friend Rocky Elkins for these wonderful photos of Jon doing what he loved most.

Joc was one of the best friends of my life. We went to cashman jr. high and Clark. We remained friends tell his passing. He was a very fun guy to be around. His family treated me great. He opened the new harrah's in laughlin . And met a great girl.He called me and said they were moving to Lake Tahoe! They were going to work 4 days a week and ski on the days off.Joc was a expert skier. He was ski patrol in Lee Canyon. The only thing I can think of is someone skied in front of him.So he tried not to hit them.I was called by his family with this horrible news.I could not speak. Many many people were at his services.People stood up and told stories about the adventures they had with Joc.I could not do so.I was to heart broken to speak.I helped carry his casket to his grave.I was the only non family member to do so.The family knew how close we were.I miss him every day.I can see him with his long black pony tail down to his waist. Everyone wanted to hang out with him.But he always picked me to hang with.It felt great. We had many great times together.I will always love him.                                                          Rocky Elkins

The comments about Jon Way are very true,  I was not the closeses friends with Jon but we were friends and he had a lot of friends that we all hung out with,  Tom Mucklow, Mitch Daniels, Eric Craig, the Schneider Bros., Rick and Ronny and hope i did not forget anybody.  Rocky, that was a great comment about Jon Way.
