Katherine Stelter (Belisle)

KATHERINE STELTER "KATIE" BELISLE, 51, of Seattle, died Saturday February 18, 2012. Born in 1960 in Honolulu, Hawai'i to the late Frederick Carl Stelter III and Sarah Freeman Stelter. Katie spent her early years in Las Vegas, NV. She graduated from E.W. Clark High School and went on to attend the University of Washington (English) as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She later received her J.D. Law from the University of Puget Sound. Katie worked for over thirteen years as a public defend er for the Society of Council of Accused Persons in the children and family division. She was married to Rick Joseph Belisle in 2001 and daughter Mary Leilani Belisle was born in 2003. Katie continued to serve at a variety of child-advocacy organizations, including Team Child and the Center for Children and Youth Justice. She also served on a number of civic boards and com mittees including those support ing Camp Nor'wester, Team Child, and her YWCA Guild. Hobbies included batik, welding, jewelry making, sewing bags, and other crafts - often involving beach glass. Katie is survived by her husband Rick and daughter Mary of Seattle, as well as by her mother Sarah and brother Eric Stelter (Kay), sister Lynne Parrott (John), and half-siblings Julea Stelter-Burwell and David Stelter, and by many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. The word most often used about Katie is "loving" and she was a great friend with an incredible heart for all who knew her. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 5 at St. Marks Episcopal Cathedral.
