Albert Flangas VIEW PROFILE

ALBERT ALEXANDER FLANGAS, 55, reposed in the Lord March 26, 2015, surrounded by his family, after a valiant and courageous three and a half-year battle with cancer. Albert was born Oct. 7, 1959, in Las Vegas, and was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Clark High School in 1977 and attended the University of Nevada Reno, graduating in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in business. He also received a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in the Reserves. Albert was a gifted real estate developer and was the owner of AF Properties and Investments. Albert was larger than life and people naturally gravitated towards him. He had a vibrant and brilliant smile coupled with a gregarious and infectious laugh that not only filled the room but also enveloped everyone around him. He exuded such an amazing love for living that the many people in his life felt truly blessed to be part of him. Albert loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many great places. He had a passion for sports and especially enjoyed playing basketball. He always took great pride in out-playing and out-hustling much younger players on the court, even after he turned 50. Albert was an astute businessman and real estate developer with an uncanny ability to chart the growth and path of Las Vegas. He was well-known in the community for his acumen in real estate investment and for his ability to put together business deals. He was also well-known for his contributions and work towards many charities, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas. More importantly, Albert was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, daddy and friend. His wife, Trudi, and their children were his ultimate love and greatest source of happiness. Albert leaves behind a large, close and loving family and many, many friends who are all missing him tremendously. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Trudi Flangas; his son, Zachary Von Tobel Flangas; his twin daughters, Arianna and Isabelle Flangas; his father and mother, Bill and Marilyn Flangas; his brothers, Gus "Billy" (Tamara) Flangas and Gary (Amanda) Flangas; and many uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren. Viewing will be 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, with a Trisagion following at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, all at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 El Camino Road (located on W. Hacienda Ave. between Torrey Pines and Jones). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the St. John Building Fund.
