Gary Long

GARY DWAIN LONG, 58, passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2015. He was born April 23, 1957, in San Gabriel, Calif., to Joseph Long and Kay Long-Storey. Gary moved to Las Vegas as a toddler and attend Vegas Verdes Elementary, Hyde Park Middle School and graduated from Clark High School in 1975. He was a union carpenter by trade, building many of the well-known casinos in Las Vegas, but his greatest passion was serving the Lord. Gary was an ordained pastor and chaplain; he loved ministering, mentoring and teaching. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Long; and his wife, Valerie Rosland Long. Gary leaves behind five children, Robin (Crystal) Long, Bethany (Jake) Klein, Rhea (John) Brim, Christian Long and Samuel Long; his grandchildren, Juliette and Jackson Brim; his mother, Kay Long-Story; his sister, Deobra Solomon; and nephews, Richard and Blair Roy. Gary's zest for food, family, loving life and serving the Lord will be carried on through the legacy of love he passed on to his children. Gary will be dearly missed by many.
