Douglas Thornley

DOUGLAS THORNLEY, Jun 25, 1957 - Sep 23, 2017, adored son, father, brother, uncle and grandfather, Douglas A. Thornley, left this world suddenly but peacefully, at home. He was born in Sacramento, California, but arrived in Las Vegas at the age of four and considered himself a native. An avid Rebels fan and political aficionado who both spoke and wrote prolifically about his opinions and concerns, Doug was passionate about those things he cared about. Gregarious and outgoing, he made friends wherever he went. Valet parkers, restaurant servers, the postman and anyone else he encountered on a regular basis, knew him by name and would stop to discuss the upcoming basketball season or latest Washington snafu. Selflessly, he spent his last years caring for his now centenarian father, Hank Thornley, sharing a love of sports. A voracious reader, Doug enjoyed nothing more, other than a Rebel game, than to get lost in one of his thousands of books. Active politically and within his church and community when his children were young, Doug served as Cub Scout leader and loved camping and fishing. He will be sorely missed by his large, loving family and the many friends he's made throughout his life.
