Ellen Finnie (Gallucci) VIEW PROFILE

ELLEN FINNIE GALLUCCI was tragically killed in a car accident in Las Vegas on February 6, 2015. Her dog Scruffy also expired in the accident. Ellen was a 1977 graduate.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) - The Clark County coroner has released the name of the woman that died in a Friday afternoon crash. The coroner said 56-year-old Ellen Finnie Gallucci died from multiple blunt force trauma because of the crash.

The crash occurred after 3 p.m. Friday. Police reported Gallucci was the only fatality, however, several more were injured. At least one of the injured was listed in critical condition, police said. Police said Gallucci was driving a 2000 Nissan Xterra. She had a dog in the car with her that was killed as well, police said.

Officers said nine vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police said the incident began when officers attempted a traffic stop. The driver of a Dodge Charger sped away from police, ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, sparking the chain of crashes. The driver of the Dodge was hospitalized following the crash.

The intersection of Cheyenne and Jones was closed for more than nine hours following the crash.

The driver of the Charger, identified as 32 year-old Kenneth Rankin of Las Vegas, faces multiple charges of drug possession and sale and is in police custody at an area hospital.

Family members say that Ellen was a mother who also ran a mobile dog grooming business.

Friend Carolyn Maupin said, She was the kindest, most generous woman. "There's not one bad word that you can say about her, ever. Nobody could. Nobody."

"She was my buddy. She had overcome so much and for this to have happened is just a shock to us all", added friend Laura Cannon.
